For Your Consideration...

This post was delayed thanks to the Memorial Day weekend, and the subsequent travels. But, here we present, in all its glory, the track poetically known as. "2.1.4." Or, if you prefer, "Ian's Vision." Enjoy!

Three

In the last week we have progressed to track three for the Othersight soundtrack. Progress is apparently slow, but the end result is well worth the wait. I am particularly impressed with the aforementioned "Track Three." It's quite dramatic, and suits the material well. Hopefully David will have a clip to share with everyone soon.

Changing Tempos

Now that it's all in David Hamilton's court, I find myself wanting for blog material. Fortunately, two things did come up. First, we did the spotting session, working through what kinds of music go where, on Monday in a little over two and a half hours. That went very well, and I currently have in my possession the roughed out opening score. I won't be able to share it with you though, as David has suggested we post the very first test piece for that scene, one he composed many months ago. I can only assume he wishes to have a proper baseline for comparison so that you may all be sufficiently impressed when he starts offering samples of the actual score. ;-) Without further ado, we present for your listening pleasure, "scene_000." Okay Then...

Well, now that the principal work has shifted over to our composer, David Hamilton, I find myself at a loss for things to say. Due to that I asked David what he had done thus far. He broke down the footage, analyzing what needed music, and this was the result:
First 30 minutes:
1779 seconds of footage/945 seconds of music.  52%

Second 30 minutes:
1740 seconds of footage/1027 seconds of music.  59%

Last 25 minutes:
1531 seconds of footage/1207 seconds of music.  62%

Total numbers:
5112 seconds of footage/3179 seconds of music.  68%

Apparently this is slightly below average for his work thus far when it comes to the footage/music ratio. No word yet on why that is. I guess that's another topic for our spotting session next week.
In other news, we are still in the process of pricing better tech for our effects department. No word back yet.

Lastly, the Brightsword blog has another update as well.

Big News!

Today, I am proud to announce that the locked edit is being rendered as I type and will be delivered to David Hamilton for his composition work within the next 36 hours. The CGI is still not complete, but we have enough material for him to work with. If all goes according to plan, we should hopefully have the finished product within the next two to three months, depending on how many other projects he receives in that time.

Also, the second blog for the teaser is up. Teaser post link
