Some of you may already know this but, in case you don't, Brightsword Productions finally has a website! It can be found at http://www.brightswordproductions.com/.
Thanks for hanging with us and we'll hopefully have some new stuff to share soon.
Othersight is an independently made Christian film about four teenagers who have the ability to perceive life not as it seems but as it really is. We created this blog to let people in on the production of this movie and to be able to participate in it if they want to. We will have more frequent updates once filming starts, as well as contests, photos, behind the scenes footage, and more.

Rolling!
The good news has finally arrived! David Hamilton is back
and better than ever! We did a spotting session last week, and have some
radical overhauls planned for the score. All in all I think it will be an
improvement. I look forward to seeing what he'll come up with.
Thanks for reading! Until next time.

We Live!
Just a quick update to say that we're still here and moving
forward. The CGI is slowly but surely coming together, and David projects that
he should be able to resume composing on or about the 12th of this month.
Thanks for following! Until next time.

Hiccups
Well, it's kinda sad to say that the latest news on Othersight is the crash of
the editing computer. Fortunately the graphics card seems to be the culprit so
hopefully it will be up and running soon. Meanwhile David plugs away at his
considerable musical workload, and Catherine (CGI dep.) is at this moment refining the
wing structure on one of our CGI elements. Nothing big, but progress.

'Twas a Moving Experience
Hello, everyone! This is just a quick update to say that my family and I
are moving! As a result, there won't be a blog post next week, but the
week after we should have news of the results of our next casting
session and the week after that, hopefully a music update for Othersight. Thanks to everyone, and have a great week!

Ooo... Shiny...
Well, as promised, here's a couple pictures of the new toy/tool we have hanging
around.
Apparently you can monitor everything on this computer, including its internal temperature. Also, you can program the light display on the case. That... was considered a default option. :-D
On another note, David expects to be able to start working on the score again by mid-late September. Woo!!!

Ah... Technology
So, our first big piece of news for Othersight
in a while. The computer for our animation work showed up today! In
conjunction with its impressive raw power, it is also huge! The box it
came in is about half my height (at 6'1".) The unboxing has yet to come,
as there are a few quite pressing matters, which will be revealed over
on the Brightsword Productions blog.

News!!!
Hello
everyone! After a week with no news we do have a spot of progress. The new
computer system is on order. Woo! It should dramatically help with rendering
the texture maps and such for our CGI. Also, we filmed a couple cutaway shots this week. Lastly, it appears that David is making
good progress on his other projects. Here's hoping it keeps up. :-)
Thanks to you all! Have a great week.

Becalmed
We’ve hit something of a stalemate here lately due to needed
computer upgrades (tech moves way too fast :-s), a composer needing to actually make a living composing : O (don’t
worry, he’ll be back though), as well as generally being done with the cut and
having most of the tweaking finished. It doesn’t leave us much to do at this
exact moment but we are definitely expecting things to speed up as we come
closer to release date.
We are making a
bit of progress with Gatewalkers & Brightsword Productions if you want to
check out our other blog, just a bit
mind you. :)

A New Preview
Hello everyone! Just a quick update on the music. The pace has
increased, we are scored up to the 31 minute mark, but in 2-3 days David
will have to switch over to a paying project for a little while. We
will keep you apprised of that. For now, the updated track for scene
000. Enjoy!

Stunts: The Basics
In
this project news lull I thought it would be beneficial to my fellow filmmakers
and the generally curious if we talked about the basics of stunt work. First
up: The Fall. Easily the most important part of stunt work, learning how to hit
the ground without injuring yourself. This is the technique that we used to
train our team, and it is also used in martial arts academies across the
country.
First off, stand with your feet fairly close together. |
Cross your arms over your chest. |
Tuck the chin. |
Bend |
and lower yourself straight down... |
...roll onto your back and break the fall by slapping out. Remember to keep your chin tucked; the inertia of the roll will try to make you crack your head on the ground. |
Note that you must make contact with the palms first,
not the elbows. Trust me, taking it on the elbows hurts.
As time goes on, you will be able to do it faster and less rigidly, but this will help your body remember the core principles
Well, there you have it. I hope that was instructive. Thanks for reading!
P.S. Now the standard disclaimer. The individual takes full responsibility for any injuries incurred... Brightsword Productions and the Othersight team will be held harmless... etc, etc. and so forth.
