Day 14: Pick-up Shots & Fight Scene

Here we go again. Friday we filmed several pick-up shots for the fight scene on our main set, before tearing it down Saturday. Filming went really well despite the lateness of the shoot. We started at 6 p.m. and packed up around 11 p.m.

The filming period was actually a lot of fun. During one part, our "swat team" was firing blanks and brass was flying everywhere. We got some really nice footage of that. Next, we had another appearance of the Bein Sidh. We filmed their entrance into the scene and parts of their fight with Vern. While waiting for the rest of the cast to get into costume, two of our Bein Sidh had a bit of time to kill. It is quite entertaining watching the antics of bored "Bein Sidh." I'll give you a clue, two parallel poles, and a dolly board that rolls back and forth across them. Yeah.

Due to schedule changes with actors, filming won't start up again until Wednesday as opposed to Tuesday.

Here are a few pictures from Fridays shoot.

Days 12-13

In the past few days we have filmed a conversation between Akerra and Vern and hiked into the hills again to do a small scene, also with Vern (actually his stunt double). The hardest part of the hike was the fact that "Vern" had to trek about a mile through the hills...in full armor. Then two of the crew ended up carrying the armor, plus the extra gear, all the way back. Let me just say, there are not many more awkward thing's to carry then a full suit of metal armor.
The quick conversation we shot between Vern and Akerra went nicely. However, there was a small situation related to the price being payed for the use of the location, but I think everything got worked out.

Day 11

Saturday went well. We shot the scene prior to the big fight that we filmed two Saturday's ago. We had a full day, but thankfully got done before 6 P.M. There are still a few pick-up shots that need to be covered, but nothing major.

Six of our actors are gone on vacation now, so this week is probably going to be a bit slower. Slow is good though, it gives us some time to recoup and relax after really pushing it these last two weeks. Everyone has been truly great; they have given so much time and effort to this project despite the late nights and long hours and we really appreciate it. We could not have gotten this far without them.

Also, there are more pictures posted on our Othersight Facebook page.

Please Pray

Hi, this is just a quick post to request prayer for everyone. We are going to be shooting all day and after a long week of filming, everyone is tired. So, please pray for energy, excellent performances, great takes, safety, that things would go quickly and smoothly, for wisdom, and that everyone would have a lot of fun. We would really appreciate it. Thanks

Due to several busy days ahead you may not hear from us for a couple days.

Day 10: Vance & Jewel's House

Today, we're filming several scenes that take place in and around Vance and Jewel's home. Vance assisted with the construction of technologies used by the government in their black ops. Jewel is his girlfriend who is beginning to wonder about him...

We filmed the first meeting between Jewel and two of the Othersight team members this morning. All our actors did a great job and we really appreciate the effort they have put into their roles.

Tonight, we will be shooting a rescue by the Othersight team.

Please see our Facebook page for additional pictures.

Days 7-9

Outside of getting lost driving to a location we’d previously scouted, day 7 went very well. We shot a scene where one of our main characters leads a couple guards on a “merry” chase. It was a lot of fun and the actors/extras did great. A big thanks to our local ROTC for their participation.

Later that day, we filmed several research scenes. For the fun of it we cast one of our researchers as a Russian scientist. The actor who played the part did a fantastic job, but he unintentionally got everyone else working on the scenes speaking with a Russian accent, too.

Days 8 and 9 we trekked into the hills. We all really enjoyed this. The countryside was beautiful and the weather just right. We were there to film a travel montage for our main characters, a heart-to heart-moment between Anna and Ian, a short conversation between Jack and Ian, a sniper scene, and Jack and Ian waiting for Anna to get back from taking care of a situation.

Day 9 we filmed the scene with Carrie when Ian is finally given his gift. Then we shot the scene where a guard is killed, a difficult event on Ian due to his newly received gift. Lastly we filmed a conversation/monologue with Ian that introduces Othersight.

Here are some of the promised pictures. We will be posting more to our Facebook Page.

Quick Update

Hey, everyone. Sorry for the long silence, our internet service provider was down.

Except for a few bruises, the big fight scene Saturday went well. It ended up being a very  condensed shoot but still looks great. Since then, we have shot another chase scene between Anna and two guards (which was quit amusing) and a couple short discussion/research scenes on our main set.

Today and tomorrow, we will be up in the hills with most of our core cast for filming. Hopefully, everything will go well and we can hike out of the hills before dark.

I'll be posting pictures as soon as I can.

Day 5 & 6

June 9th we filmed a couple different scenes. In the morning we shot the very first scene of the movie which went superbly. That afternoon we filmed a fight Vern has with the head Bein Sidh. Both were a lot of fun to film. They also both reveal some rather interesting information about the characters and story.

Today, we got to do a bit of climbing around in the woods. We filmed a scene with Anna, who has a very forest/country bent. This naturally leads to more woodsy scenes.
We actually ended up gaining then losing two minor characters in really quick succession, very close to when we needed them. So, we had to recast hours before the shoot. But everything turned out good in the end.

Tomorrow, we are going to be filming the very intense final battle. So, please keep praying for us and the safety of our cast and crew. Thank you.

Day 4: Swat Team Invasion

Last night we filmed the swat team invading Ian's home. The weather was great for the shoot, people did really well and we got done in pretty good time.

Watching the swat team barge into the house was a really cool experience. Everyone looked great in their costumes and the whole entry was very intense. Our two main actors on the other side performed their part of the invasion scene with just the right amount of urgency.

Day 3: Fight & Confrontation

Yesterday, we filmed two scenes. One was a fight between Ian and a Bein Sidh which looks really good. The other was a confrontation between Fedora and Ian. They both went well, even though we had to move our location for the first one due to an unanticipated situation.

Day 2: Interrogation & Torture

Filming yesterday went very well. We shot a torture/rescue scene the first part of the day. Then we filmed an interrogation scene later that evening between a minor character and one of the "bad" guys. If you look at the pictures you'll probably figure out who I'm talking about.

Day 1

Okay, this might be a little confusing but, today is the first "official" day of filming. June 1st was a shoot day we needed to fit in before one of our actors took off. So, now that it is June 6th we are starting full-fledged into filming the movie "Othersight."

The scenes we are shooting today are very important, emotionally charged and thus very hard for our actors and everyone else involved.

Again, please pray that all goes well.

More will be posted later.

Pre-shoot Shoot

As we prepared for the shoot, rain clouds loomed on the horizon, but everyone was too excited to let the likelihood of rain dampen their enjoyment. Getting everything set up and staged took longer than expected, so people new to this process got an early introduction into the life of movie making: a lot of hurry up and wait.

After things were set up, we shot our first official scene of the movie, an ambush in an alleyway. This is one of the first face-to-face meetings with the Bein Sidh. As the night moved on, things grew colder...and wetter. The rain started to really come down, so we ended up designating some of the crew "official" umbrella holders to protect equipment. In spite of this, some of the gear (and most of the people) ended up very wet.

We took a short break to dry off and pray. A few minutes later, Jon Brewer (the director) stepped out the door and lifted his hands to test the air. A slight grin covered his face when he found that the rain had stopped! We were able to finish the shoot with very little rain and wrap up around midnight.

The shoot last night went very well. No one was hurt and the director was pleased with everyone's performances. Even though we had rain and things were soaked, it actually helped add to the dramatics of the scene.

Our thanks to all who prayed.

Filming Today

We are shooting a flashback scene tonight. Please pray that it goes well and no one gets hurt. Also, pray that God blesses everyone's performances and that all goes well.
